StandUp India Foundation works to increase the earning potential of Bengaluru’s marginalized communities by creating self-employment opportunities through skilling courses in tailoring, yarn, and computer work. Some of these options are sustainable for women to pursue as they let them work from or near home.
In these photographs are women from marginalized communities who were certified as tailors, giving them another source of income and a path to alternate livelihood if they choose to follow it.
One of them, Rathna spoke to StandUp India Foundation about being a single mom, taking care of her children on her waste-picker wages, and how she hopes to better their future following this certification.
